کے بارے میں

Posyagbasan Koyu Comekli Mahalle Camii serves a small village neighbourhood in the Aladag district of Adana province, nestled in the southern Taurus mountains of southern Turkey. The Aladag region, whose name in Turkish means the motley mountain, is famed for its steep forested slopes, its plateau summer pastures used by semi nomadic herders known as yoruk, and its cascading rivers that feed the Seyhan basin below. The mosque serves the Comekli mahalle, meaning the neighbourhood of the potters, a hamlet within the larger village of Posyagbasan where older generations produced ceramic water jars and cooking pots for the surrounding farms. The building is a characteristic Anatolian village cami: stone foundations laid against the hillside, walls of plastered brick, a tiled pitched roof to shed the heavy winter snow, and a slender concrete minaret from which the adhan carries through the valley five times a day across the terraced orchards below. Inside, the prayer hall is carpeted in a pattern of red and gold, the mihrab framed in pale tile with calligraphy of the ayat al kursi in gold against dark green, and the minbar a simple wooden staircase of five steps. A small lattice screened section at the rear serves the women of the village. The congregation is drawn from Posyagbasan and several neighbouring hamlets, a mix of sheep herders, fruit farmers, and schoolteachers. Daily prayers are modest affairs, often attended by the village elders and retirees. Jumu'ah brings a fuller gathering, with men from the outlying farms descending on horseback or pickup truck. Sermons are delivered in Turkish and often recall the mercy and humility of the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him and his family. Ramadan is the busiest time of the year, with tarawih each night and iftar tables of bulgur pilav, yogurt, and village bread. Eid prayer spreads onto the small village square. The area lies close to the Demirkazik peak beloved of Turkish climbers, the Karatas ski slopes, the famous Kapuzbasi waterfalls that tumble from the mountain cliffs, the Yedigoller lakes in the high plateau, and the old silk road pass across the Bolkar range.
