کے بارے میں

Dedicated to Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz al Rashid, may God have mercy on him, this Jami Mosque in the town of Ar Rass within al Qassim province honours a respected Saudi scholar whose family name the al Rashid carries particular resonance across central Arabia. The al Rashid family played a significant role in the political and religious history of northern Najd, establishing the Rashidi Emirate in Hail during the nineteenth century before being absorbed into the expanding Saudi state in the early twentieth century. The family has continued to produce scholars, businessmen, and civil servants across the modern kingdom. Ar Rass stands among the historic towns of al Qassim province, its people earning particular recognition in Saudi history for their heroic defence against Egyptian forces during the nineteenth century Ottoman military campaigns against the first Saudi state. The town wears this heritage with pride alongside its role in the region's agricultural and commercial life, with date palms, cereal cultivation, and traditional crafts sustaining rural communities. Al Qassim province produces some of the Kingdom's finest dates alongside cereals and vegetables, and its towns preserve Najdi architectural character even as they modernise. Najdi mosque architecture features plain rendered walls with triangular parapet crenellations, carved wooden doors, square minarets suited to the flat landscape, and often modest domes. This al Rashid mosque likely combines traditional elements with modern materials. Inside, carpeted prayer hall floors accommodate worshippers across dedicated men's and women's sections, with a mihrab faced with carved stone or tile, a wooden minbar, and Qur'anic inscriptions along the upper walls. Five daily prayers gather worshippers from the surrounding streets, and Jumu'ah fills the hall. Sermons in classical Arabic address Qur'anic themes, hadith guidance, and the scholarly legacy that teachers like Sheikh Abdulrahman al Rashid transmitted. Ramadan transforms the mosque calendar with communal iftar featuring Najdi dishes of kabsa, jareesh, marqooq, and Arabic coffee with dates, alongside taraweeh prayers. Qur'anic memorisation circles for children meet year round. Women worship in dedicated sections. Eid prayers draw extended families. Nearby attractions include the historic Ar Rass well, the agricultural farms producing famous Qassim dates, the provincial capital at Buraidah, and the open Najdi landscape.
