Dedicated to Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz al Rashid, may God have mercy on him, this Jami Mosque in the town of Ar Rass within al Qassim province honours a respected Saudi scholar whose family name the al Rashid carries particular resonance across central Arabia. The al Rashid family played a significant role in the political and religious history of northern Najd, establishing the Rashidi Emirate in Hail during the nineteenth century before being absorbed into the expanding Saudi state in the early twentieth century. The family has continued to produce scholars, businessmen, and civil servants across the modern kingdom. Ar Rass stands among the historic towns of al Qassim province, its people earning particular recognition in Saudi history for their heroic defence against Egyptian forces during the nineteenth century Ottoman military campaigns against the first Saudi state. The town wears this heritage with pride alongside its role in the region's agricultural and commercial life, with date palms, cereal cultivation, and traditional crafts sustaining rural communities.
