Musholla Darul Huda RT 02 Sambikerep in the Bulaklo area of Bojonegoro serves a small neighbourhood cluster in this rice growing district of East Java. RT 02 refers to rukun tetangga, the smallest unit of Indonesian neighbourhood administration, designating a specific cluster of households that share a musholla as their everyday prayer space. Darul Huda, meaning house of guidance in Arabic, is a common name chosen for neighbourhood prayer houses across Indonesia, expressing the hope that the mosque will be a source of divine direction for its worshippers. Bojonegoro itself is known as the teak capital of Java, surrounded by vast teak plantations and orchards of mango and jackfruit, and its villages retain a strong agrarian character despite the incursion of oil and gas operations in recent decades. The musholla is a modest structure: a tiled prayer hall raised slightly above the kampung lane to keep it clear of rainy season puddles, a pitched green roof in the traditional Javanese idiom, and a small loudspeaker tower at one corner from which the adhan carries across the surrounding paddies to the farmers working in the fields. The interior is floored in cool ceramic tile with prayer mats rolled out for each salah, the qibla wall faced with a simple wooden mihrab, and ceiling fans turning slowly through the tropical afternoon. The congregation is drawn entirely from the RT cluster, perhaps forty or fifty families who work in rice farming, small trade, and local government service. Daily prayers follow the steady rhythm of Javanese village life, with the adhan of maghrib marking the end of the working day. Jumu'ah prayers are held at a larger mosque nearby, but the musholla remains the centre of tarawih during Ramadan, community iftars of bubur, tempe, and ketupat, and children's Quran classes each afternoon, following the example of teaching the young that is narrated from the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him and his family. Close by stand the Kayangan Api eternal flame where natural gas ignites continuously from the ground, the Bojonegoro teak forests, the Bengawan Solo river that winds through Java's rural heart, the Dander recreational park, and the ancient royal tombs of Klenteng Hok Swie Bio along the old trading road.
