کے بارے میں

Nestled in the pine covered hills above the Mediterranean coast near Erdemli in the Turkish province of Mersin, the village masjid of Kosbucagi Koyu, endowed by Haci Hocali, offers its worshippers a cool and fragrant retreat from the summer heat of the coastal plain. The Mersin province stretches along one of the most beautiful stretches of the Cilician coast, with long sandy beaches, ancient Roman and Armenian castles guarding rocky headlands, and orchards of citrus, olives, and pomegranates producing the fruit for which the province is justly famous throughout the Turkish lands.

Village masjids in rural Anatolia represent the living continuation of a deep tradition in which returning pilgrims, known as Haci in the Turkish language, endow a place of worship in their home community as an enduring legacy. The honorific Hoca marks a teacher, often one who leads the Qur'anic lessons for village children and who may deliver the Friday khutbah to the gathered men. The combination of the two titles in the donor's name, Haci Hocali, suggests a life devoted both to pilgrimage and to patient teaching, honouring the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him and his family.

The village mosque follows the classic Anatolian rural style, with a modest rectangular prayer hall, a pitched red tiled roof, and a simple white minaret rising beside the entrance. Inside, soft kilim carpets cover the wooden floor, a wooden minbar stands to the right of the mihrab, and calligraphic panels above the windows carry the names of God and the salawat upon the Prophet. Men of the village gather here before the first light of morning for Fajr and return at sunset for Maghrib, exchanging news of the orchards, the flocks, and the families between the prayers.

On this page visitors will find accurate daily prayer times for Fajr, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, and Isha at the village masjid in Erdemli district, along with its address, a helpful location map, and practical notes that assist residents of Mersin province, holidaymakers along the Cilician coast, researchers of Anatolian village life, and travellers passing along the coastal road between Antalya and Adana to share in the courteous and relaxed congregational worship offered quietly throughout the year here.
