کے بارے میں

Crowning a quiet street in the Güzelyayla neighbourhood of Gozne, a hill district of Mersin province in southern Turkey, Eyup Sultan Camii borrows its name from one of Istanbul's most beloved holy sites, the masjid enshrining Abu Ayyub al Ansari, may God be pleased with him, companion of the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, and standard bearer whose remains were discovered during the Ottoman conquest of Constantinople. The mountain village of Gozne has long offered Mersin's residents a cool summer retreat from the sweltering Mediterranean coast, its pine scented air and babbling streams drawing families to weekend homes and garden restaurants. Mersin itself grew from a small fishing settlement into a major port serving the Çukurova plain, and its religious landscape mingles the classical Ottoman masjid idiom with the more restrained regional styles of the Taurus foothills. The Güzelyayla Eyup Sultan Camii expresses this quieter idiom, a single domed prayer hall set atop a square plan with four small corner domes, a slender pencil minaret typical of the classical Turkish silhouette, and a shaded son cemaat portico for worshippers removing their shoes before entering. The interior is whitewashed and luminous, its dome painted with delicate rumi floral motifs picked out in soft blues and greens, the mihrab faced with turquoise and cobalt İznik inspired tiles, and the wooden mimbar carved in the careful geometry favoured by Anatolian craftsmen. Daily prayers observe the national Diyanet schedule, with the imam leading fajr, zuhr, asr, maghrib, and isha in deliberate tajwid. Jumu'ah khutbahs address matters distributed by the Presidency of Religious Affairs, linking the small village to wider national reflection. Ramadan iftars are held in the garden with lentil soup, olive studded bread, and baklava donated by village bakers. Visitors heading to Gozne for hiking or to escape the summer heat will find the masjid a peaceful stop, and the surrounding pines, waterfalls, and village cafes make the ascent worthwhile on any day of the year. The quiet dignity of village worship continues here just as it has in Anatolian hamlets across the centuries, each generation handing down the cadences of recitation and the rhythms of community gathering to the next in a living chain that stretches back to the earliest days of Islam in these lands.
