کے بارے میں

High in the rolling countryside north of Aleppo, the village of Huraytan holds Jami Sayyid al Shuhada Hamzah ibn Abd al Muttalib, a mosque named after the uncle of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) whose martyrdom at the Battle of Uhud earned him the noble title Master of Martyrs. Aleppo itself is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world, mentioned in the Ebla tablets of the third millennium BCE. Its countryside is dotted with fortified churches, early Islamic ribats, and Ottoman caravanserais along the old road to Antioch and the Mediterranean. Hamzah ibn Abd al Muttalib (may God be pleased with him) was among the earliest defenders of the Muslim community in Makkah and Madinah. He embraced Islam in dramatic fashion after hearing that a tribal chief had insulted the Prophet, and thereafter became a pillar of support through years of persecution. His martyrdom at Uhud in the fourth year after hijrah filled the Prophet with great sorrow, and his memory has been honoured for many centuries in shrines, mosques, and village gatherings across the Muslim world, from Madinah itself to the far reaches of Khorasan and Andalusia. The architecture of Huraytan's mosque reflects the austere but dignified style of rural northern Syrian religious buildings. Walls of dressed limestone quarried from the nearby Jabal Sim'an hills, rounded arches framing the prayer hall, a low stone dome over the mihrab, and a sturdy square minaret set beside the entrance all recall the traditional masonry of the region. Inside, simple patterned rugs donated by village families cover the floor, and a carved wooden minbar stands ready for the Friday khutbah delivered in gentle classical Arabic. Daily prayer times for Jami Sayyid al Shuhada Hamzah ibn Abd al Muttalib in Huraytan, together with the address, a location map, and practical visitor notes, are listed on this page for villagers, travellers from Aleppo, and pilgrims visiting the region's early Christian and Islamic heritage sites. Aleppo's countryside is celebrated for its Byzantine dead cities such as al Bara and Serjilla and for the great pilgrimage complex of Saint Simeon Stylites, as well as for its olive oil, laurel soap, and pistachios. Worshippers at this mosque often remain a little while after Isha, sharing bread, olives, and gentle prayer for the wellbeing of every family still enduring the hardships of recent years.
