کے بارے میں

On the outskirts of Aleppo, in the town of Huraytan, the masjid known as Jami Sayyid al Shuhada Hamzah ibn Abd al Muttalib, may God be pleased with him, offers the local congregation a place of worship bearing one of the most beloved names in early Islamic history. Hamzah, the uncle of the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, embraced the faith during the difficult early years in Mecca, earning the titles Asadullah, the Lion of God, and Sayyid al Shuhada, the Master of Martyrs, for his courageous defence of the Muslim community and his eventual martyrdom at the Battle of Uhud. Huraytan lies in the fertile Aleppo plain, a land of olive groves, pistachio orchards, and ancient villages.

Aleppo itself is among the most historic cities of Syria, and its Islamic heritage is older than the city of Baghdad. Its citadel has witnessed centuries of rule by the Hamdanids, the Zengids, the Ayyubids, the Mamluks, and the Ottomans, and its scholars have contributed to every branch of Islamic learning. Villages in the surrounding countryside, including Huraytan, have long played the role of farming communities that supplied the great market of Aleppo with wheat, olives, and fruit, and every such village traditionally held a small but well loved masjid at its centre.

The building follows the typical northern Syrian village mosque pattern, with walls of local limestone, a flat roof on wooden beams, a modest minaret, and a whitewashed interior that sets off the carved mihrab and a simple wooden minbar. Worshippers gather for the five daily prayers, for Jumu'ah, and for tarawih during Ramadan. Although the recent years of conflict in Syria have brought hardship to the Aleppo countryside, the congregation of Huraytan continues to maintain its house of prayer as a sign of resilience, remembrance, and hope for better days.

This page lists current prayer times for Fajr, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, and Isha at the masjid of Sayyid al Shuhada Hamzah in Huraytan, along with its address, a location map, and notes that help residents of the Aleppo countryside, returning families visiting ancestral homes, aid workers serving the region, and travellers passing through the northern roads of Syria to join this enduring congregation in calm and dignified worship throughout every season of the year.
