کے بارے میں

Ori Eru Central Mosque in Ibadan serves the Ori Eru district as its principal venue for congregational worship, fulfilling the role of a neighbourhood focal point that hosts the Friday Jumuah prayer and the major Eid festivals while also providing for the daily religious needs of local residents. Ori Eru is one of the many distinct historic quarters that make up the vast tapestry of Ibadan, and like other such neighbourhoods maintains its own strong Muslim identity with multiple mosques and suraus serving its residents. The Central Mosque, as the principal institution among these, carries particular dignity and serves as the venue for major community events. The structure features a prominent dome, a minaret from which the muadhin calls the adhan, a generous forecourt for peak attendance, and a substantial interior prayer hall carpeted and oriented toward the qibla, decorated with Arabic calligraphy and illuminated by chandeliers or overhead lighting, furnished with a beautifully inscribed mihrab and a finely crafted wooden mimbar from which the khatib delivers the Friday khutbah in Yoruba and Arabic, and provided with a separate women's section ensuring modest worship for sisters. Ablution facilities are sized for peak demand. Programmes include the five daily prayers, Friday Jumuah, Qur'an and tajwid classes for children and adults taught by qualified ustadz, Islamic studies in the Maliki jurisprudential tradition, Arabic language instruction, marriage solemnisation, funeral rites and janazah prayers, zakat collection and distribution, and welfare services for needy families. The imam of the central mosque often plays a role in mediating community disputes and providing religious guidance beyond strictly liturgical matters. Ramadan at Ori Eru Central Mosque brings nightly tarawih prayers drawing overflow crowds, community iftars featuring Yoruba Muslim specialties like jollof rice, moi moi, and akara, Qur'an khatm sessions, and itikaf during the blessed final ten nights as worshippers seek Laylatul Qadr. Ori Eru Central Mosque holds regular interfaith dialogue events with neighbouring Christian churches, a characteristic feature of Ibadan's religiously mixed yet largely peaceful social fabric, where Muslim and Christian leaders meet to discuss shared concerns, coordinate on issues affecting the whole city, and model for their congregations the peaceful coexistence that has been a hallmark of Ibadan life across decades of Nigerian religious tensions elsewhere.
