کے بارے میں

Named for the noble companion Abu Bakr al Siddiq, may God be pleased with him, the closest friend of the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, and the first caliph of the Muslim community after the Prophet's passing, this Irbin mosque in the Damascus countryside carries one of the most beloved names in Islamic history. Abu Bakr, may God be pleased with him, earned the epithet al Siddiq meaning the truthful for his unwavering faith during the trial of the Night Journey, and his patient leadership during the earliest days of the caliphate preserved the unity of the young Muslim community. Irbin sits within the eastern Ghouta region of Rif Dimashq province, a historic agricultural belt of orchards, fields, and villages whose people have suffered grievously through the recent years of conflict yet continue to rebuild and to worship. Syrian mosque architecture draws on deep wells of tradition, including Umayyad stonework, Ayyubid and Mamluk refinement, and Ottoman era patterns of domed prayer halls and slender minarets. This mosque follows the local idiom with rendered masonry walls, a modest central dome, a single minaret, and a carpeted prayer hall whose mihrab is faced in simple tile work. Five daily prayers gather worshippers from surrounding streets, and Jumu'ah fills the hall with men of all ages seeking both spiritual nourishment and community solidarity through difficult times. Sermons address Qur'anic themes and reflections drawn from the life of Abu Bakr himself, whose patience, generosity, and steadfastness offer timeless lessons. Ramadan brings communal iftar meals of fatteh, yakhni stews, and sweet knafeh prepared from whatever ingredients local farms can supply. Taraweeh prayers fill the hall with the voices of hafidh imams completing the Qur'an across the blessed month. Qur'anic memorisation classes meet after Asr, providing continuity of education for children through periods of disruption. Women worship in a dedicated section with its own entry. Eid prayers draw the community together in shared gratitude. Nearby landmarks include the ancient orchards of Ghouta, the old Damascus city with its Umayyad Mosque, and the historic shrines scattered across this storied landscape. Reconstruction efforts continue slowly across the eastern Ghouta region, and this mosque plays an important role in the return of normal life to Irbin, a quiet symbol of resilience amid difficult circumstances.
