کے بارے میں

Within the East Java Regional Tax Office compound at Jagirsidosermo in Surabaya, the Masjid Shalahuddin offers staff, visitors and the surrounding kampung community a dignified space for the five daily prayers, Jumu'ah and Ramadan programmes. Named after Salahuddin al Ayyubi, the Kurdish general who liberated Jerusalem in the year one thousand one hundred and eighty seven, the mosque's title recalls a figure whose memory unites Muslim communities across every region of the world. The Directorate General of Taxation maintains prayer facilities across its regional offices in Indonesia, following a long tradition in which public institutions, from army barracks to universities, house congregational mosques for their staff. Surabaya itself, the second largest city of Indonesia, anchors East Java's Islamic heritage, anchored by the wali Sunan Ampel whose tomb lies in the Ampel neighbourhood and whose teaching circles shaped the wider archipelago's devotional culture. Architecturally the Shalahuddin mosque combines contemporary Indonesian office architecture with traditional cues, featuring a square prayer hall topped by a green copper dome, a single minaret finished in white tile and arcades of pointed arches that shade the entrance. Inside, ceiling fans rotate above a green carpet, the mihrab is tiled in cobalt and gold and the mimbar is carved from jati wood. Daily prayers are called by rotating staff volunteers, Jumu'ah khutbah is delivered in Bahasa Indonesia with Arabic recitation, and Ramadan evenings gather employees and neighbours for shared iftar featuring sambal goreng, rice cakes, ice buah and freshly prepared kolak banana compote. Tarawih continues past nine and selected nights host qiyam recitation. Eid mornings draw staff families in batik finery, and the courtyard fills with children receiving small envelopes of cash. Visitors should dress modestly, leave shoes on the low racks, register at the office gate and respect the institution's security protocols. Nearby lie the Ampel tomb, the Suroboyo statue, the House of Sampoerna museum and the old Dutch quarter of Surabaya, each offering a window onto the city's layered industrial and devotional past along its modern river. The office's social committee organises an annual charity walk from the mosque through the Jagirsidosermo neighbourhood every first Sunday after Eid, raising funds for an orphans' school near Sidoarjo, and the event has become a beloved fixture within the wider tax office family calendar across the Surabaya branch offices.
