کے بارے میں
Operating as part of the Shahid Avini cultural centre near Khondab in Iran's central Markazi province, the Masjid of Hazrat Abulfazl, peace be upon him, honours the loyal brother of Imam Husayn ibn Ali, peace be upon him, and standard bearer of the family of the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, during the tragic events of Karbala. Hazrat Abulfazl, peace be upon him, also known as al Abbas ibn Ali, may God be pleased with him, is remembered for his courage at the Euphrates, his devotion to his brother, and his refusal to drink before the thirsty children of the camp, a memory that shapes the spiritual imagination of millions across Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, the Gulf, and South Asia. The Markazi province, whose name simply means central, lies inland between Qom and Hamadan and includes villages, small towns, and farming districts bound together by canals, qanats, and modest roadways. Khondab itself is a small town near the administrative centre, and the cultural complex around the mosque combines a prayer hall with classrooms, a library dedicated to the martyr filmmaker Shahid Avini, a small auditorium, and meeting rooms for youth gatherings. The mosque itself follows a modest Iranian vernacular, with a turquoise tile dome, a single minaret, and walls painted in pale ochre. Inside, the prayer hall is covered with Persian carpets, the mihrab is lined with blue and green tilework, and framed calligraphy bearing the names of the fourteen pure ones adorns the walls. Daily prayers gather residents, students, and families, and Jumu'ah draws a larger congregation. Ramadan brings nightly taraweeh, communal iftars of ash reshteh, zereshk polo, and dates, and Qur'an recitation sessions. The cultural centre organises film screenings, youth book clubs, calligraphy workshops, and commemorative programmes during Muharram that draw local participation. Visitors should dress modestly, observe the hijab requirements within the building, and greet elders with the polite warmth that Iranian hospitality reserves for guests. A small auditorium within the cultural centre occasionally screens documentaries about Shahid Avini's own work as a chronicler of the Iran Iraq war, along with films about the Karbala narrative, and hosts youth calligraphy competitions in which participants copy verses on the virtues of al Abbas ibn Ali, may God be pleased with him, using traditional reed pens on handmade Iranian paper.
