کے بارے میں

Deep in the rolling hills of Negeri Sembilan in peninsular Malaysia, Surau Tunku Pengiran Ibni Yamtuan Radin of Kampung Tanjung Bachhang gathers a small village community into the familiar rhythm of five daily prayers. Kuala Pilah district, where the surau stands, is one of the cultural heartlands of the Minangkabau people, whose ancestors migrated from the highlands of Sumatra across the Melaka Strait more than five centuries ago, bringing with them a distinctive adat, matrilineal inheritance, and a deep attachment to Islam. The word tunku and the phrase ibni yamtuan reflect local Malay royal titles, and the name honours a figure of the Negeri Sembilan noble household who helped establish or endow the building.
Islam arrived in the Malay Peninsula gradually, spreading from the trading port of Melaka in the fifteenth century to the interior kampungs in the following generations. The Minangkabau of Negeri Sembilan embraced the faith fully, weaving it together with local custom in a formula still recited by elders, adat bersendi syarak, syarak bersendi Kitabullah, meaning custom stands upon law, law stands upon the Book of God. Small village suraus, of which this masjid is one, were the front line of that enduring religious life, offering space for daily prayers, weekly Friday gathering, Qur'anic memorisation for children, and communal meals during Ramadan and on Eid.
The building is a modest timber and concrete Malay village surau in the classic style. A tiered zinc roof lifts above the prayer hall, louvred windows admit the cool highland breezes, and carved wooden panels around the mihrab display simple Arabic calligraphy. Red patterned carpets cover the floor, a small library holds Qur'ans and tafsir volumes in Malay and Arabic, and ceiling fans turn above the congregation throughout the warm afternoons and evenings. The Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, taught that the mosques are the houses of God on earth. Ramadan brings collective iftars of rendang, nasi lemak, and sweet pulut hitam, shared by the whole kampung community. On this page you will find accurate daily prayer times for Fajr, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, and Isha for every villager and every Malaysian traveller passing through beautiful Kampung Tanjung Bachhang in the interior of Negeri Sembilan.
