کے بارے میں

The Uttar Sonarang Islamia Darul Uloom Madrasa and Masjid stands within Narayanganj district, on the southern outskirts of Dhaka where the old river town has blended into the expanding capital of Bangladesh. Narayanganj carries a long commercial memory as a jute and textile hub along the Shitalakshya river, and the district's villages have produced generations of scholars whose small madrasas quietly shape rural religious life across the delta. The name Darul Uloom, house of the sciences, signals the institution's dual role as both a congregational mosque for the village of Uttar Sonarang and a teaching centre where boys memorise Quran, study Arabic grammar, and absorb the classical manuals of fiqh and hadith under the guidance of local teachers. The architecture follows the practical Bengali village mosque tradition: a raised concrete plinth to keep the prayer hall above the monsoon floods, a trio of small domes over the main hall, whitewashed walls picked out with green trim, and a slender minaret from which the adhan carries across the paddy fields. The courtyard doubles as the madrasa's playground and exam space, and a separate block houses classrooms and a simple dormitory where students from distant villages can board during the academic year. Daily prayers draw village elders, farmers, and students, with the imam favouring the warm Bengali cadence in recitation. Jumu'ah attendance fills the hall to capacity; during Ramadan, the evenings are given over to tarawih and a small community iftar of muri, chickpeas, and dates, following the prophetic encouragement to break fast with moist dates whenever possible, as narrated from the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him and his family. Eid prayer is held in the adjoining field, with rural families arriving in their brightest clothes. Visitors reach the mosque via the Dhaka Narayanganj road and a short rickshaw ride through the paddies. Nearby stand the Panam Nagar ruins, the Sonargaon Folk Art Museum, and the Meghna river ferry crossings that link the district to the broader delta, while the old jute mills along the Shitalakshya recall the commercial might of nineteenth century Narayanganj.
