کے بارے میں

Nestled within the suburban calm of Northridge in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles County, the MTO Shahmaghsoudi school welcomes visitors as a centre of learning and worship rooted in the tasawwuf tradition of Persian Islamic spirituality. The school derives its name from Hazrat Shah Maghsoud Sadegh Angha, a twentieth century teacher whose works on the inner science of the heart have been translated into English, French, Spanish, and many other languages to guide students far beyond the borders of his native Iran.

California is home to one of the largest Iranian communities in the world, established mainly after the political upheavals of the late twentieth century when families settled around Los Angeles, giving rise to the affectionate name Tehrangeles for the Westwood district. Northridge, a quiet residential city of lawns, schools, and the sprawling campus of California State University, offered a peaceful setting where Persian families could preserve their literary, musical, and spiritual inheritance. Classical Persian poetry by Hafez, Saadi, Rumi, and Attar continues to shape the devotional reading of the community, alongside the Qur'an and the blessed sayings of the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him and his family.

The centre itself hosts weekly gatherings of meditation, Qur'anic reflection, lessons on the life of the Messenger, public lectures on ethics, and community service programmes that welcome neighbours of every background. Teachers emphasise the cultivation of the heart, honesty of dealings, humility before Almighty God, and remembrance of the Creator through the careful discipline of the tongue, the eye, and the private thought. Verses of the Qur'an calligraphed in Persian nastaliq adorn the walls, and collections of classical works line the library shelves for students of every age.

Architecturally the building blends modern Southern Californian form with Persian interior ornament. Clean exterior lines and a sunny forecourt give way inside to patterned carpets, decorative muqarnas plasterwork, lantern chandeliers of coloured glass, and a calligraphic mihrab inscribed with verses describing the light of the heavens and the earth. Separate spaces welcome men and women with dignity.

Accurate daily times for the five prayers are posted on this page alongside the Northridge address, a precise map pin, and considerate notes for visitors approaching from Reseda, Granada Hills, or the wider Ventura Freeway. Friday gatherings bring lectures in Persian and English, followed by platters of saffron rice, kebabs, fragrant ghormeh sabzi, and warm tea served with rock sugar to every guest. Travellers through the San Fernando Valley are welcomed quietly, invited to sit with the congregation, and gently encouraged to offer a supplication asking the Creator to grant sincerity of heart and steadfastness of purpose to every believer drawn to His remembrance.
