کے بارے میں

Agiliti Central Mosque in Ojota, an inner suburb of Lagos known for its major bus interchange and busy commercial streets connecting the mainland to the eastern residential districts, serves as the principal congregational mosque for the Agiliti community, one of the many distinct neighbourhoods that make up the sprawling urban tapestry of Lagos. Central mosques in Nigerian cities and towns typically serve as the main venue for Friday Jumuah prayers drawing worshippers from across their catchment areas, as well as hosting Eid prayers, major lectures, and community gatherings. The Agiliti area has a strong Muslim identity with worshippers including Yoruba Muslims indigenous to southwestern Nigeria as well as Hausa, Fulani, Igbo Muslim converts, and other communities who have made Lagos their home. The mosque is typically a substantial structure with a prominent dome or domes, a minaret from which the adhan is called by the muadhin, an expansive courtyard for peak attendance, and interior decoration reflecting the dignity of its role. The prayer hall is carpeted and oriented toward the qibla, with a beautifully inscribed mihrab, a wooden mimbar from which the khatib delivers the weekly khutbah, a separate women's section, and ablution facilities sized for large crowds. Programmes include the five daily prayers, Friday Jumuah, Qur'an and tajwid classes for children and adults, Islamic education in the Maliki jurisprudential tradition favoured across West Africa, marriage solemnisation, funeral rites, zakat distribution, and welfare services. Ramadan transforms Agiliti Central Mosque into a focal point of nightly devotion with tarawih prayers drawing overflow crowds, community iftars featuring Nigerian Muslim culinary specialties, Qur'an khatm sessions, and itikaf in the blessed final ten nights. Eid al Fitr and Eid al Adha prayers fill the mosque and surrounding streets with worshippers in festive attire celebrating together. Agiliti Central Mosque serves as a focal point for Nigerian Muslim identity in an increasingly urbanised Lagos, where rural migrants from across the country gather to find their footing in the megacity while maintaining the devotional habits they brought from home villages, and the imam makes a point of welcoming newcomers warmly regardless of their ethnic or regional background, embodying the Islamic principle that the mosque is the house of all believers regardless of origin.
