کے بارے میں
Registered under the name Association de la Ligue Amicale des Cultures et de la Recherche Scientifique, this Muslim prayer space and cultural association occupies a modest building in Pantin, a commune on the northeastern edge of Paris in the Seine Saint Denis department. The association was founded by families of North and West African origin who settled in Pantin during the post war decades when the town's factories drew labour from across the former French colonial empire, and it continues to reflect that diverse heritage in its programmes and membership. The name chosen by the founders underscores a philosophy that unites prayer with learning and friendship across cultures, an intention inspired by the Prophetic counsel that seeking knowledge is obligatory on every Muslim. Pantin itself lies along the Canal de l'Ourcq and has undergone considerable urban renewal in recent years, with former industrial buildings converted to creative industries and design offices, yet the association retains its grassroots character. The prayer hall occupies the ground floor of a former workshop, its concrete floor covered by imported Tunisian carpets, its qibla wall marked by a restrained mihrab of white painted plywood and its ceiling fitted with simple pendant lights. A separate women's section at the rear is accessed through its own entrance, and an upstairs classroom is used for evening French and Arabic lessons as well as weekend Qur'an classes for children. Friday prayers are delivered in a sermon that alternates French and Arabic, mindful of the mixed linguistic background of the worshippers. During Ramadan the association organises iftar meals featuring couscous, thieboudienne, tagine and mafe representing the culinary traditions of its membership, and Eid prayers are held in a nearby sports hall rented for the day. The association also runs a small scientific research club for youth, hosting talks on astronomy, environmental sciences and the contributions of Muslim scholars such as Ibn al Haytham and al Khwarizmi. Visitors from neighbouring communes can reach Pantin by metro line five or the regional tram, and are invited to join activities provided they dress modestly and observe the quiet that the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, commended within the houses of God.
