کے بارے میں
Established through the joint endowment of Nabil Khalid Jaafar and his wife, Dr. Amal Mubarak al Hassawi, this mosque in the Salwa district of Kuwait bears the names of both husband and wife, reflecting a growing Kuwaiti practice whereby couples contribute together to charitable works and ensure the ongoing reward accrues to them as partners in faith. The inclusion of a woman's name alongside a man's on a mosque foundation is a deeply meaningful sign of the religious and civic standing of educated Kuwaiti women, many of whom hold doctorates and serve in ministries, universities and hospitals. Salwa itself is a prosperous residential district of villas, schools and shopping streets in Hawalli governorate, southeast of Kuwait City and close to the coastal highway. Kuwait's Islamic heritage grew from its maritime past, when pearl divers and merchants of the Gulf sustained a devotional culture of daily prayers at sea, weekly majalis in the home diwaniyyas, and scholarly lineages such as those of the Al Bassam and Al Faraj. The regional architectural idiom favours soft limestone or stucco walling, compact domes, slender minarets rising beside the Gulf's fine sky, arched arcades, and inner courtyards planted with bougainvillea. Five daily prayers bring a steady flow of worshippers from neighbouring villas, Friday gatherings fill the carpeted hall and frequently overflow onto the surrounding paved plaza, tarawih prayers through Ramadan stretch late into the evening, and Eid mornings see children in new dishdashas and girls in embroidered jalabiyyas receiving sweets when the two rakats finish, Qur'an schools run through the week, and the women's section hosts regular study circles and iftar gatherings in the fasting month. Travellers visiting the Kuwait Towers, the Grand Masjid close to Seif Palace, or the Scientific Centre will find this Salwa mosque a gracious example of the city's contemporary devotional life shaped by both spouses of a dedicated family. The women's library on the upper floor holds a distinguished collection of works by Kuwaiti authors including studies of jurisprudence and biographical dictionaries, and it is frequently visited by university students writing their dissertations on Gulf religious history and social development.
