کے بارے میں

Surau Baitul Rahman — "the house of the Most Merciful" — is located in Skudai, Johor, in southern Malaysia. Skudai is a rapidly developing suburb of Johor Bahru that has transformed over the past two decades from a small town into a substantial residential and educational centre, home to Universiti Teknologi Malaysia and the many services that support its student and staff population. The surau serves the community of its immediate neighbourhood, offering a place of daily prayer and occasional religious gathering. The name Baitul Rahman invokes one of the most beautiful names of Allah — Ar-Rahman, the Most Merciful — and expresses the hope that the worshippers in this house of prayer will know something of that boundless divine mercy through their acts of devotion. The building is modest, as suraus typically are, with a single prayer hall, a small women's section separated by a curtain or low wall, and wudu facilities at the entrance. The kariah is a mix of families who have lived in the area for generations and newer residents drawn in by the Skudai growth, and the surau serves all of them equally. Daily prayers are held throughout the week, with the small congregations that gather being typical of a residential surau — a handful of regulars for Fajr, a larger crowd for Maghrib and Isha, families stopping in over weekends. Weekend Qur'an classes for children bring noise and movement to the hall on Saturday afternoons, and the women's halaqa meets weekly for recitation practice and religious study. Ramadan brings a dramatic intensification: taraweeh every night fills the hall, and the community organises iftar on a rota basis, with bubur lambuk, dates, and sweet drinks laid out for all who come. The Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم said that whoever relieves a hardship of this world for a believer, Allah will relieve a hardship of the hereafter for him, and the small acts of mutual care that happen around Surau Baitul Rahman — shared meals, counsel for families going through difficulty, financial help for those who need it — accumulate into something significant in the life of the neighbourhood.
