About

Close to the green fields of Sultanah, a residential district on the northern edge of the blessed city of Madinah in Saudi Arabia, the mosque bearing the name of Shaikh Muhammad ibn Ibrahim al al Shaikh rahimahullah serves families who have settled in the newer housing blocks of the radiant city. Madinah itself is the second holiest city in Islam, the place to which the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, migrated from Makkah in the year 622, laying the foundation for the young Muslim community in a city whose very air is said to carry the scent of mercy. The Prophet's Mosque, the original masjid of the community, stands at the city's heart, and every neighbourhood mosque across the radiant oasis lives in its shadow and its blessing.

Shaikh Muhammad ibn Ibrahim al al Shaikh, who passed away in 1389 of the Hijri calendar, was a descendant of the great reformer Muhammad ibn Abd al Wahhab and served as the senior scholar of the Saudi religious establishment during the reigns of Kings Abdulaziz, Saud, and Faisal. His legal opinions, lectures, and published works shaped generations of students, and mosques dedicated to his memory can be found across the kingdom.

The prayer hall reflects the modern Najdi tradition, with smooth cream plastered walls, a central dome ornamented with calligraphic bands, and a tall slender minaret from which the adhan carries over the surrounding farms and villas. Inside, deep red carpets mark the rows, a carved mihrab faces the blessed direction of Makkah, and shelves near the entrance hold pocket copies of the Qur'an free for any worshipper. Air conditioning cools the hall through the fierce summer months when temperatures outside climb past forty five degrees.

Daily prayers gather farmers, civil servants, teachers, and pilgrims staying in the guesthouses nearby. Friday khutbahs are delivered in classical Arabic, often quoting the rulings and spiritual counsels of Shaikh Muhammad ibn Ibrahim alongside verses from the Qur'an and the noble hadith. Visitors performing ziyarah to the Prophet's Mosque, the cemetery of al Baqi, Quba, or the plain of Uhud may find this smaller neighbourhood masjid a calm stop between their journeys, with accurate daily prayer times and a welcoming attendant at every hour.
