کے بارے میں

Commemorating the late Sheikh Muhammad Sadyk Muhammad Yusuf, one of the most influential Islamic scholars of independent Uzbekistan, this cathedral masjid in Tashkent preserves the memory of a figure whose writings, recordings, and public teaching shaped the religious landscape of post Soviet Central Asia. Sheikh Muhammad Sadyk, may God mercy be on him, held the role of grand mufti of Central Asia during the final years of the Soviet Union, navigating the delicate transition from enforced atheism to restored religious freedom, and his subsequent writings on Qur'anic commentary, hadith, family life, and contemporary issues reached millions of readers across the Turkic speaking world. Tashkent itself is a city of layered heritage, the ancient Chach whose bazaars traded silks and slaves, the Timurid era centre whose scholars populated Samarkand and Bukhara, the Russian colonial capital whose grand boulevards were laid out in the late nineteenth century, and the modern rebuilt metropolis whose 1966 earthquake prompted a comprehensive reconstruction. The Muhammad Sadyk cathedral masjid reflects contemporary Central Asian Islamic architecture at its most confident. A vast prayer hall opens beneath a soaring central dome glazed with the turquoise tiles that have defined Uzbek sacred architecture since the Timurid era, the entrance portal or pishtaq towers above the courtyard with its intricate geometric tilework combining stars, calligraphy, and floral medallions. Slender minarets crowned with lantern finials rise at the corners, calling the faithful across the surrounding neighbourhoods. Inside, painted wooden ceilings feature kundal gilded ornament, ganch plasterwork carved in muqarnas frames the mihrab, and carpets from the surrounding regions figure the floor with deep crimson and indigo patterns. Daily prayers follow the Muftiyat timetable with Jumu'ah addresses given in Uzbek alongside Arabic Qur'anic recitation as Ramadan sees the community open iftar on plov, samsa, shurpa, lagman, non bread, and sweet choy. Eid prayers fill the courtyard with families in embroidered chapan coats. Visitors exploring Tashkent's Khast Imam complex, the Chorsu bazaar, or the Museum of Applied Arts will find this cathedral masjid a premier example of contemporary Uzbek Islamic architectural achievement. The cathedral masjid endures as a premier institution of Uzbek Islamic civic life, its continuing activities honouring the legacy of the late sheikh by transmitting the classical heritage of Central Asian Islamic learning to rising generations whose engagement will carry these remarkable traditions forward into the future with vigour and grace.
