کے بارے میں

Surau Al Amin sits within the township of Ulu Tiram, a rapidly developing suburban district on the northern edge of the Johor Bahru conurbation where palm oil estates and rubber plantations have increasingly given way to housing schemes, commercial parades, and industrial parks. The surau takes its name from one of the most beloved epithets of the Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa alihi wa sallam, Al Amin meaning the Trustworthy, a title given to him by the Quraysh of Makkah long before his prophethood was proclaimed. For the local jamaah this name carries a reminder that honesty and reliability are among the highest virtues a believer can cultivate, and the surau endeavours to embody these values in its service to worshippers. Built in the practical Malaysian style of single-storey concrete walls, a pitched tiled roof, and wide verandahs shaded against the tropical sun, Surau Al Amin welcomes neighbourhood residents for all five daily prayers from Fajr before dawn through Isha after dusk. Ablution taps line an outdoor washroom area, and shoe racks beside the main entrance keep footwear tidily arranged during prayers. Inside, the carpeted floor is marked with straight lines to help worshippers align their saf, and a modest mimbar stands beside the mihrab for the Friday khutbah. Ulu Tiram itself has a long Malay-Muslim heritage stretching back generations before the current wave of development, and the surau provides continuity between that heritage and the new families settling into nearby taman housing estates. Activities include weekly Qur'an recitation for children, evening tazkirah talks by visiting ustadz, and regular gotong royong sessions where volunteers clean and maintain the building. In Ramadan the surau comes alive with iftar gatherings and tarawih prayers, and during Eid the open court in front fills with worshippers greeting one another after the festive prayer, a warm snapshot of communal Islamic life in suburban Johor. The surau committee also coordinates with nearby Ulu Tiram suraus and masjid jameks for joint religious events, particularly on major Islamic holidays when processions, open houses, and shared feasts strengthen bonds of brotherhood across the wider Muslim community of the district and remind younger generations that the kampung tradition of generous neighbourliness remains very much alive even amid the rapid transformation of the Johor landscape into a modern industrial and commercial hub linked to Singapore by causeway and shared economic destiny.
