کے بارے میں

Within the coastal city of Zliten in the Misratah region of Libya, the Mosque of al Hawamid hosts regular lessons by Sheikh Abu Hudhayfah al Musrati alongside the daily rhythm of five prayers that anchors the spiritual life of the surrounding community. Zliten itself carries a long history of scholarship as the city of Sidi Abd al Salam al Asmar al Fituri, a sixteenth century scholar whose writings on spiritual refinement, jurisprudence and Arabic grammar established a lasting tradition of learning that drew students from across north Africa. The Asmariya Islamic University in Zliten continues this legacy today, offering instruction in Qur'anic sciences, hadith, jurisprudence and Arabic literature, and the city's mosques function as both places of prayer and venues for halaqah circles of study. The al Hawamid mosque takes its name from a family or tribe honoured with the patronage of the building, and its attached study sessions led by Sheikh Abu Hudhayfah al Musrati draw students from the neighbourhood eager to deepen their religious knowledge. Architecturally the mosque follows the Libyan coastal style with whitewashed walls, a central dome of pale blue plaster, a square minaret of soft limestone, and a courtyard shaded by olive trees where worshippers remove their shoes. The interior prayer hall is floored in woven mats, the mihrab is framed by simple geometric plasterwork and the mimbar is of local cedar. Daily prayers draw residents of the surrounding blocks, while Jumu'ah fills the hall for khutbah in Arabic delivered with the local Libyan cadence. Ramadan brings iftars of asida, bazin and sweet makroud, long tarawih prayers led by reciters in the qaloon reading, and vigils on laylat al Qadr. Eid assemblies see families dressed in traditional attire. Visitors to Zliten can combine a stop with the shrine of Sidi Abd al Salam, the old city walls and the beautiful Mediterranean coastline. Visitors to the lessons of Sheikh Abu Hudhayfah al Musrati will find classes conducted in a welcoming and disciplined atmosphere, with students seated in semi circles on woven mats reciting portions of classical texts while the sheikh offers commentary drawing on the heritage of Zliten and the wider Libyan scholarly lineage. Evening gatherings sometimes include the communal recitation of the Dala'il al Khayrat, a beloved compendium of praises upon the noble Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, cherished across the Maghreb for centuries.
