کے بارے میں

Abdulhadi Kurtuluş Merkez Camii is one of the central mosques of the Kurtuluş neighbourhood in Çankaya, central Ankara, and bears the name of Abdulhadi, a personal name meaning 'servant of the Guide' — one of the beautiful divine names of God. Kurtuluş itself means 'liberation' or 'salvation' in Turkish and is a common district name across Turkey, often used in reference to the War of Independence and the founding of the Republic. The juxtaposition of the two names — one theological, one historical — is itself characteristic of the layered meanings that Turkish mosques often carry. The building is a substantial Merkez Camii of modern construction, with twin slim minarets flanking a central dome, a broad stone-paved courtyard, and a carefully finished interior. The prayer hall is carpeted in warm tones and lit by high windows, the mihrab is of carved stone and tile, and the walls carry calligraphic panels in several classical scripts. Women pray in a generous upper gallery. The imam is supported by a team of muezzins, and Friday attendance is very high, with the khutba broadcast onto the courtyard for worshippers unable to find space inside. Qur'an and ethics classes for children run throughout the year, and adult study circles tackle a range of subjects from tafsīr to contemporary issues. During Ramadan the mosque runs an extensive programme of tarawih, Qur'an khatms, and community iftars, and its scale makes it one of the spiritual hubs of Kurtuluş. The mosque also plays a central role in the neighbourhood's observance of the sacred nights of the Islamic calendar, with particularly large gatherings on Qadr, Berat, and Miʿrāj, at each of which the long recitations of the Qur'an and the extended personal supplications that follow turn the main hall into a hushed, luminous space of concentrated devotion lasting well into the night. For Muslim visitors to Çankaya, Abdulhadi Kurtuluş Merkez Camii offers a dignified place of prayer and a genuine experience of Turkish neighbourhood Islam at its most fully realised, and the surrounding streets contain ample options for tea, modest family restaurants, and a slow evening walk after the maghrib prayer.
